Niklas Wilhelm

Niklas Wilhelm is the founder of The Island Keeper, one of Cyprus' largest community-driven environmental initiatives, and Items of Cyprus, a recycling project that transforms plastic waste collected during cleanups into new products.

After moving to Cyprus, he started organizing cleanups to tackle the growing waste problem on the island. What began as a one-man mission has evolved into a movement involving hundreds of volunteers, businesses and local communities.

Through social media, environmental action and community engagement, Niklas has helped remove more than 17 tons of waste from beaches, nature areas and viewpoints across Cyprus while also supporting animal welfare initiatives and developing local recycling solutions.

His work focuses on turning online attention into real-world impact and proving that one person can build a movement capable of creating meaningful change.
